Case study: Japan 2011 tsunami
background information
In Japan on March 11th 2011 an earthquake with the magnitude of 8.9 set off a large tsunami that caused massive amounts of destruction around the area.
There were to be estimated over 10000 people have died, 2000 injured. 1.2 million houses without electricity, 1.4 million homes with no water and 50000 homes severely damaged or destroyed. There was a lot of concern for the nuclear power plants in the northern area as the citizens began to worry over possible radiation leaks caused by the tsunami.

recovery
As Japan has their Human Development Index (HDI) as rank number 12 and Gross domestic product (GDP) as rank 3, it didn't take very long before Japan had recovered completely from the disaster. Many infrastructures were rebuilt and the waste that were swept around where cleared and taken away.

From the images above we can see that just after 3 months of recovery everything seems to be on it's way back to normal, as everything is being fixed.
